Bill Cronin, president and CEO of the Pasco Economic Development Council, told commissioners on Aug. 5 that the county has recorded 437 direct jobs and about $101 million in new capital investment so far this year.
Cronin said the county continues to emphasize advanced manufacturing and workforce development, noting partnerships with AM Skills and CareerSource, and described ongoing work on site-readiness for industrial projects. He said the EDC is watching a trend nationwide toward lower headcount in new investments as companies invest in automation and AI.
Cronin also announced that a British company that can remotely lift fingerprints from glass and other surfaces using a camera plans to locate at the Wesley Chapel incubator and will work with the sheriff's forensics unit; that firm will host an open house at the incubator. The EDC said three UK companies have located to Pasco County following trade outreach.
Cronin summarized other EDC work—international trade missions, awards, incubator cohorts, microloan and co‑starter programs—and said the EDC is monitoring a large thousand‑acre East Pasco site that has attracted quiet defense- and aviation‑sector inquiries.
What’s next: Cronin said some projects will be briefed to the board in September and invited commissioners to upcoming EDC events and incubator open houses.
