The board recognized National Social Work Month during the March 4 meeting. Commissioner John Davis presented a proclamation that praised social workers for advocating for justice, protecting children from abuse and neglect and supporting vulnerable residents. Deputy Director Jeffrey Brown of the Department of Social Services accepted the proclamation and thanked the board for acknowledging staff.
Davis and Brown highlighted the work of social-service professionals across settings including schools, hospitals and government agencies. The proclamation notes the nation has more than 810,000 social workers who contribute to public health and welfare and formally designates March 2026 as National Social Work Month in Onslow County.
