Utopia reports subscriber growth, new services and fire-thermal camera use in regional wildfire response

He said Utopia offers residential services up to 10 gigabits, a new 2.5-gig option, and business tiers to 400 gigabits; the network supports multiple retail providers and, the presenter said, saves the average subscribing household about $29 per month compared with incumbent non-promotional rates in the presenter’s analysis.
The presenter highlighted smart-city deployments, including air-quality sensors and a thermal-imaging fire camera used by first responders in recent wildland-interface fires. He showed how the infrared camera helped crews identify hot spots overnight when visible imagery was obscured by smoke. The presenter also discussed distributions to member cities (he cited a proposed FY2025 distribution of about $1.3 million to West Valley, up modestly from prior year) and noted bonded indebtedness that Utopia aims to retire over time.
