The Reeds Spring R-IV school board approved a package of operational items including a turf replacement contract, selection of a managed-service provider and a staff wellness reimbursement program.
Turf replacement: The board approved Geo Surfaces' bid to replace the district's aging athletic turf. The agency official said the existing turf had exceeded its safe lifespan and that the chosen product removes rubber infill and includes additional shock padding intended to reduce concussion risk. "This padding is a shock padding that will prevent is about concussion prevention and safety," the official said, and added the selected product includes a 12-year warranty compared with an eight-year warranty offered by another bid.
Installation timing and origin of existing turf: The district plans to start installation immediately after the football season and complete work before track season. The official said the current field had been a used turf the district acquired previously from the University of Cincinnati and that it had deteriorated faster than expected.
Managed services: The board approved JMark as the district's managed-service provider. The official thanked the evaluation team for their work in selecting the vendor.
Staff wellness incentive: The board also approved a $500 wellness reimbursement available to staff for health or mental-wellness expenses. The official said details on the reimbursement process will be distributed in the next few days and encouraged staff to use the benefit. "You have $500 to use on you in a way that will take care of your mental health or your physical well-being," the official said.
Attendance note: The official reported early data indicating a drop in staff leave usage, describing an approximate decrease from roughly 70% to about 50%, which the district presented as evidence the incentive program is influencing attendance.
What happens next: Installation is expected to begin following the end of football season; district staff will publish details on the wellness reimbursement process in the coming days.
