Members noted the MSBA language may not map perfectly to the district’s dual‑system structure and asked staff to confirm which sections apply. Staff agreed to provide clearer copies after resolving packet version issues and to coordinate any deletions with legal counsel.

The committee also reviewed a minor wording change replacing "human sexuality" with "human sexual health." Staff said the change is terminological only and that no curriculum content was before the committee for review; the district’s curricula remain publicly available for families to view.

A member asked whether a Texas Supreme Court decision earlier that day — described in the meeting as permitting parents to withdraw students from materials on religious‑belief grounds if families had not been notified — would require district changes. Staff responded Missouri law does not match that Texas rule and the district does not currently have a universal parental opt‑out law; staff said they would continue to make curricula available to families and work with them on specific concerns.

The KBR public information program item was pulled from the agenda and rescheduled for the Aug. 8 meeting because it needs additional legal review. Director Beaver also requested that the policy committee consider rephrasing limited directory‑information language to exclude ICE; staff said that would require outside legal consultation and coordination with partner districts, and the referral was assigned for follow‑up.
