The Human Resources committee reviewed a parks and recreation proposal to raise seasonal wages for positions such as lifeguards, admissions staff and session leads. Parks staff said the increases were designed to remain competitive with neighboring jurisdictions and to address national lifeguard shortages; an additional $5,000 had already been included in the 2026 budget to offset the change.
A committee member abstained from the vote because a family member could benefit from the change. The committee voted to forward the proposed seasonal wage schedule to the full Common Council for consideration.
Next steps: the Parks wage proposal will appear in the council packet for final approval and associated budget adjustments as needed.
