Zoning board approves subdivisions and findings of fact in March 4 meeting

The Decatur County Board of Zoning Appeals / Area Planning Commission recorded several routine approvals at its March 4 meeting.
The board approved the findings of fact for a previously heard 2025 BCA petition concerning a proposed cell phone tower presented by Mr. Riggs (care of Jeff Deck). A motion to approve the findings was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board also approved APC petition 2026-3, in which John Deal requested subdividing two small residential lots out of a 94.09-acre parcel and rezoning portions from A1 to A2 to allow large single-family homes. Nearby resident Walter Moore of Morland, Inc. commented that some roadside acreage had been hayed in prior years; the board accepted the petitioner’s explanation and approved the petition.
Finally, APC petition 2026-4 — Daniel and Talilu’s request to subdivide about 1.5 acres from 16 acres and rezone that lot from A1 to A2 for a single-family dwelling — moved forward after discussion about driveway siting and visibility on a hill; a motion to approve was seconded and the petition was approved by voice vote.
All items were approved by voice vote; petitioners were reminded to coordinate with the planning office on the next administrative steps (driveway inspection, building permits and final platting as required).
