The commission approved purchases and payments as presented and discussed recommended contracting approaches for small public-works projects. Staff explained that having multiple contractors on contract (DeMarco, DeMambro and Luigi Ferdinandi & Son were mentioned) will allow the city to obtain prompt quotes and send crews for small sidewalk, curb or patch repairs without waiting for larger spring contracts.
Staff said the intent is to solicit quotes from multiple preapproved contractors and use the lowest responsive quote provided the contractor can respond in a timely way. Commissioners voted to approve the purchases and payments consent item by roll call.
