Commissioner Dempsey said he had spoken with the reporter and that some article details were inaccurate; he clarified that the finance work being done by an outside firm (Plan Moran) was a contract for finance services and not that the finance director was "working for Plan Moran for big bucks." Dempsey said he had expressed concerns during the hiring process and had opportunities at that time to voice them.
Commissioner Voris and Commissioner Rick also praised Shipman’s long service in the fire department and his methodical approach, with Voris noting they had served together on the retirement board and called Shipman an "asset." Commissioner Hammond opened his remarks by acknowledging Juneteenth and congratulating firefighters.
