Mount Clemens commission confirms Danny Reynolds as fire chief at $75,000 salary

The Mount Clemens City Commission voted Nov. 6 to confirm the city manager’s appointment of Danny Reynolds as the city’s new fire chief and approved an annual salary of $75,000.

City Manager Shipman presented Reynolds’ record to the commission, saying Reynolds "has 27 years of previous fire department experience, six of which were in the capacity of fire chief," and noting Reynolds’ service as a community college fire‑academy program manager and as a training coordinator for the Michigan Bureau of Fire Services. Shipman said the administration recommended Reynolds as "the administration's preferred candidate for this important role because of his background knowledge, skills and experience in the fire service."

The commission took a roll‑call vote to confirm the appointment; all members present voted to approve the confirmation and the salary. The confirmation was presented as a routine personnel appointment; no public speakers addressed the matter during the agenda item.

The commission’s action replaces an interim arrangement and authorizes the mayor and clerk to complete any hire paperwork required under municipal personnel rules. The city did not provide additional details in the meeting on benefits, start date or probationary terms.
