The Mount Clemens City Commission voted to support a local social-district permit application from Your Mother's Food and Spirits and approved a special-event permit for Macomb County Pride’s fourth annual summer event on Aug. 17, 2024.
Staff said eligible establishments for a social district must provide a certificate of liability insurance as a condition of approval and that the local resolution is required before the business can apply to the Michigan Liquor Control Commission. The commission passed a resolution recommending approval to the state commission.
For the Pride event, staff said organizers requested North Main Street between Home Place and Market Street from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., with an expected attendance of about 5,000 people. The event will include food trucks and vendors and organizers will be responsible for all city service costs; final street-closure timing remains subject to the Department of Public Services.
The motion to approve the social-district resolution and the motion to approve the Pride special-event permit passed on roll-call votes.
