The Mount Clemens City Commission approved a resolution permitting a temporary marijuana consumption event requested by RJB Enterprises LLC, doing business as Pleasantries, to coincide with the retailer’s grand reopening on March 8–10, 2024.
Staff said the event will be on private property but that the city’s marijuana-business ordinance requires commission approval of temporary consumption events by resolution. City staff also noted that the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office may inspect the permitted premises during hours of operation and that state approval is required for the event to proceed.
Commissioners asked about proximity to nearby residences and were told there is a substantial separation from the lot to adjacent residences. During public comment, Ryan Wickersham, who identified himself as Pleasantries’ president, pledged that the retailer will allocate the incremental revenue (the described "delta" from the event) toward supporting the nonprofit organizations seeking CDBG funds.
The commission approved the special-event permit by roll call vote; staff noted state approval remains a condition before the event may operate.
