Wyoming County board hears construction and security-entrance updates; cornerstone ceremony set for Aug. 9

District staff updated the Wyoming County Board of Education on construction progress, security‑entrance projects and an upcoming cornerstone ceremony.
Superintendent Mr. Stewart and facilities staff reported a recent preconstruction meeting for the Westside practice facility; the contractor said site work will begin within one to two weeks with a tentative completion in December, contingent on prefab lead times. Staff said they would press contractors to meet the December target but noted potential delays in doors and windows due to supply-chain lead times.
The board received an update on three security-entrance projects funded through the facilities bond. Contractors suggested the work could be completed sooner than initially expected, though staff cautioned that material lead times remain the primary risk. The district will hold regular progress meetings (every two weeks) and weekly design-team meetings on active projects.
A ceremonial cornerstone laying for the Mullen site is scheduled for Aug. 9 at 1 p.m.; district staff invited board members and the public to attend and said state office representatives and local partners will participate. Staff also said the clerk of the works and the superintendent from SQP will attend the next board meeting (July 28) to present a project update.
A motion to adjourn followed routine business later in the meeting.
