Sycamore CUSD 427 board approves consent agendas, accepts FY25 audit and OKs assistant superintendent pay amendments

The Sycamore CUSD 427 Board of Education on a unanimous vote approved its regular consent agenda and a separate NIA consent agenda, accepted the district’s fiscal year 2025 audit and ratified amendments to two assistant superintendent employment agreements.
During the consent agenda vote, the board approved routine items including minutes, bills payable, financial reports, personnel reports, gifts and donations and out-of-district trip approvals. The motion to approve items 4.01–4.10 was moved and seconded and carried on roll call.
The board also approved the NIA consent agenda covering NIA financial and personnel reports and vendor agreements by similar motion and roll call.
In the fiscal-audit discussion, a staff member explained the audit’s role: “The purpose of the audit is to have an external firm come in and look at the procedures that are taking place specifically in the business office,” and that auditors also “look at … making sure that our books are balanced,” providing an external check on district practices. The board received the comprehensive annual financial report and a management letter from the auditors and voted to accept the FY25 audit.
Board members discussed next steps on the district’s engagement with its auditors. Trustees said they will propose an amendment to the external-audit agreement to add a review focus on accounts payable and payroll disbursements; that amendment is expected to return for board review at the March 31 meeting.
On personnel matters after returning from executive session, the board approved amendments to the employment agreements for the assistant superintendent for business services and the assistant superintendent for human resources/educational programs, described by the board as annual compensation increases. Each amendment was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
The meeting adjourned after the votes. No public comments were made during the designated public-comment period.
