The Richland 1 Middle College Board of Directors on May 13 approved two administrative hires for the 2026–27 school year and adopted an employee incentive plan recommended by the school administration.
The board voted to accept the administration's recommendation to hire Tiffany Pendleton as operations and assessment specialist, effective July 2026, and to fill the office/instructional assistant role with Victoria Harris for FY27. Dr. Brabham presented both recommendations, citing Pendleton's U.S. Army service, private-sector accounting management experience and seven years in K–12 science teaching, and Harris's work-study experience and a medical-billing certificate.
Why it matters: the hires and incentives will affect the FY27 budget and staffing. During the consent vote the board also approved an incentive package—based on a Richland 1 district memo dated April 17, 2026—that includes a longevity payment (to be paid June 2026), an over-90-day sick-leave payment (to be paid Sept. 2026) and a midyear incentive (to be paid Dec. 2026). Dr. Brabham told the board the school is aligning its incentives with district practice to remain competitive for staff recruitment and retention.
Board procedure and votes: Dr. Dunn moved to accept the hires and the incentive recommendation; motions were seconded and approved by voice vote. The record shows the motions were adopted by unanimous affirmative voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded on the transcript.
The board's action amends personnel lists for FY27 and commits the school to the incentive-payment schedule described by administration, which staff said will be reflected in the FY27 budget.
