Board shifts curriculum adoption cycle to ease elementary staff workload

The board approved a proposed change to the district’s curriculum adoption timeline intended to reduce simultaneous adoption burdens on elementary staff.
Under the change, electives and specials would be vetted beginning in September with a selection and proposal to the board the following February, allowing K–6 math adoption work to be delayed to a 2027–28 adoption window. Presenters said the adjustment reflected teacher feedback and would allow the district to align adoptions with potential DPI revisions to math standards.
Board members who had spoken with teachers said the change was welcome. The motion to approve the updated adoption cycle was moved, seconded and carried.
