Patrick County Board of Supervisors returns to open session, confirms Richard Cox and approves two county contracts

The Patrick County Board of Supervisors returned to open session and unanimously certified that only the matters identified for closed discussion were considered, then moved through a set of nominations and contract awards before adjourning until Monday, May 11.
In a series of procedural actions, the presiding member moved to certify the closed session, saying, “I move to certify that to the best of each member's knowledge one only public business matters lawfully exempt from open meeting requirements and two only such public business matters that were identified in the motion to enter the closed session were heard, discussed or considered during the closed session.” The motion was seconded and approved with Mr. Marshall, Mr. Kendrick, Mr. Wood and the presiding member voting aye.
The Board then considered nominations. The presiding member nominated Richard Cox to fill the Board of Supervisors seat for Smith River District; the nomination was seconded and the Board voted to confirm Cox unanimously. The Board noted there were no nominees for the Economic Development Authority (Mayo River) seat or for a planning position.
The Board nominated Kenny Vasquez to serve as the county administration representative on the CPMT; that nomination was seconded and approved unanimously.
On procurement matters, the Board voted to award the county accountant contract to ClearPoint after a motion and second. Immediately afterward, the Board moved to award the county audit contract to Robinson Cox; that motion also passed unanimously.
Before adjourning, members clarified that the motions and votes were recorded on the record. A motion to adjourn passed with the same unanimous tally, and the Board set its next meeting date for Monday, May 11.
