The commission ratified an eligibility list for Nutrition Service Worker III and approved attendance and associated costs for the Personnel Commissioners Association of Southern California conference on Sept. 24 in Downey for the commission members, the director and technicians. Commissioners discussed and corrected a clerical travel instruction in the agenda before approving the travel request; one commissioner recorded an opposition to the motion.
A speaker presented a newly created classified position, the Nutrition Services Operations Manager, noting the school board had approved the job’s functions and duties and that the commission’s role was to set minimum qualifications for recruitment. Commissioners confirmed it is a new classified management role reporting to the director of nutrition services and discussed its placement as a middle‑management position between director and assistant director roles. The commission approved the recommended qualifications and moved forward with recruitment planning.
The commission also voted to extend the Senior Office Assistant eligibility list to Dec. 29, 2025 to avoid immediate additional recruitment while current testing continues; staff noted there are three vacancies that the extension will temporarily cover. The public portion of the meeting concluded and the commission moved into closed session for two agenda items.
