Aberdeen reports healthy midyear finances; library construction advancing

Finance Director Mr. Watson told the board that through the end of December the general fund showed approximately $296,000 net income and that real and personal property tax collections had climbed to about 95.25% of budgeted expectations; building permit revenue and system development fees were running ahead of prior-year levels. Combined operating funds showed roughly $2.7 million net income through December, Mr. Watson said.
Town Manager updated the board on the new library: he said framing is about 95% complete, plumbing and electrical rough-ins are scheduled to finish soon, and staff are pursuing grants and county/regional support for staffing once the building opens. Manager and staff said revenues will support planned water and sewer capital investments and emphasized continued monitoring of permit and fee collections.
The reports were accepted by the board as part of the manager and finance updates; no formal vote on appropriations was recorded in the transcript.
