The City Council authorized an amended and restated utility services agreement with Dr. Horton, Texas Limited and 94 Georgetown Investments for the long-delayed Georgetown development on FM 528.
Staff representative Rod said the project began under an earlier 2014 agreement and had been postponed while the developer finished a separate Friendswood Trails project. The updated agreement includes off-site improvements intended to improve water pressure and system reliability in the city's southern reaches, including upsizing a 12-inch water line to a 16-inch line and upsizing pumps and a generator at Lift Station 14. Rod told council the city’s contribution for upsizing the line is capped at $250,000 (post-bid).
Council members asked how the city is compensated for its work; staff said the city will fund certain improvements from utility services revenue and capital funds and that the developer will pay impact fees for interconnections. Council approved the agreement by unanimous vote.
