Planning commission forwards rezoning for 7320 Northwest Highway to Board of Commissioners

The Fairview Planning Commission on Feb. 10 voted 8–1 to recommend that the Board of Commissioners approve a rezoning request for the 5.38‑acre property at 7320 Northwest Highway (tax map 021, parcel 056.07) to R20, a zoning designation for one‑ and two‑family homes.

Staff reported the parcel lies within the city’s urban growth boundary and is contiguous to existing Fairview development. Staff said the property is designated as “new residential medium neighborhood” in the Fairview Forward 2040 comprehensive plan and noted that surrounding parcels are already zoned R20 and developed as phases of the OrangeShire development. The rezoning, if adopted following annexation and the Board’s consideration, will be scheduled for first reading before the Board of Commissioners on Feb. 19, 2026, with a potential second reading March 19, 2026.

Allison Corolla of TSquare Engineering represented the applicant and told the commission the annexation received a unanimous favorable recommendation at the prior meeting and that the rezoning is the second step in the process. The commission voted to forward a favorable recommendation by roll call; the vote was recorded as 8 in favor and 1 opposed.

Next steps: the Board of Commissioners will consider the rezoning at its Feb. 19 meeting; if the property is formally annexed, the zoning change and possible second reading would occur in March as scheduled by staff.
