At its March 9 meeting Jackson County commissioners approved several routine procurement and personnel items and took action to make an HR personnel clerk position permanent.
During new business commissioners approved the purchase and installation of panic buttons/access controls for county courthouse facilities based on the IT director’s recommendation to select a vendor offering future integration despite higher up-front costs. They also approved the Kwood proposal and to surplus the equipment listed in that proposal, along with buyers' orders to replace a county truck and plans to surplus an older mower after purchasing a John Deere Z930 model that staff recommended based on vendor quotes.
On personnel, staff recommended converting a previously contemplated temporary HR clerk hire into a permanent personnel-clerk position and circulated a job description and revised organization chart. Commissioners set aside the rules of procedure, approved the job description, authorized the permanent hire and updated the org chart.
Motions on the items were made, seconded and carried during the meeting; no roll-call tallies were read into the record in the transcript excerpt.
