Dr. Nicely reiterated the district's partnership with community groups for a series of parent-family education meetings on the dangers of early smartphone use and announced a suicide-prevention information session tied to National Suicide Prevention Month. The superintendent asked community members to consult the Roanoke County Public Schools website for schedules and details.
Board members used their reports to thank Dr. Nicely for his leadership and noted his announcement of a retirement date; several speakers praised his 33 years of service to the district. No formal action was taken on the items in his report during the meeting.
