Milpitas Unified board adopts fiscal resolutions, AB 1290 compliance and recognition proclamations

At the Sept. 9 meeting the Milpitas Unified Board of Education held a public hearing and adopted several fiscal and recognition items.
Finance: The board opened and closed a public hearing on the appropriations limit calculation and then approved Resolution 2026.4 (appropriations limit calculation summary). The board also adopted Resolution 2026.6AB providing AB 1290 compliance around geographic usage restrictions for Redevelopment Agency (RDA) pass‑through funds, a measure staff explained allows the district to continue eligible maintenance uses of such funds. Finally, trustees adopted the 2024‑25 unaudited actuals; staff explained the closed books and a pending county/state recalculation that may adjust certain LCFF revenue allocations, and said auditors will present a final report in December 2025 or January 2026.
Recognitions: The board adopted Resolution 2026.3 recognizing Sept. 15–Oct. 15, 2025 as National Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month (a student video reading was played), and Resolution 2026.5 honoring first responders and recognizing Sept. 11 as Patriot Day (NJROTC cadets read the resolution).
Votes: For the items taken up on consent and during the public hearing, the clerk recorded aye votes and no oppositions; minutes show motions carried on each item with no recorded dissents.
The board finished its consent agenda and adjourned; future meetings were listed for Sept. 23 and Oct. 14.
