Weld County commissioners approve liquor and dance-hall licenses for Rockin S Ranch in Johnstown

The Weld County Board of County Commissioners approved a new entertainment-facility liquor license and a county dance-hall license for Rockin S Ranch, a wedding and events venue at 6943 County Road 56 in Johnstown.

The approvals, carried by unanimous vote of the three commissioners present, followed a staff recommendation and a short presentation by the applicant. The licenses were considered under docket 2026-20 (liquor) and docket 2026-21 (dance hall). No members of the public spoke during the hearing.

Chris Freredy, who identified herself as the owner of Rockin S Ranch, told the board the venue has operated as a wedding and event facility since 2017 and is seeking the liquor license to permit alcohol service at events. "We're a wedding and event venue. Been in operation since 2017," Freredy said.

Bruce, county staff presenting the file, said the application "falls within code" and recommended approval. "She certainly meets the letter of our code," he said, describing the property as a "lovely facility." The board then moved to approve: Commissioner Perry Buck made the motion; Commissioner Kevin Ross seconded and the motion carried with no opposing votes among those present.

The board took the two votes consecutively: first to approve the liquor license and then to approve the dance-hall license for the same site. The meeting record does not list conditions or effective dates for the licenses beyond the approvals made at the meeting.

The board moved on to subsequent agenda items after approving both licenses.
