The board cited Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes during presentation of the initial resolution.

The board then voted on the initial resolution; roll‑call votes recorded during the meeting show multiple members voting yes.
Under Resolution B, the board directed the district clerk to call a referendum for the regularly scheduled primary election on Aug. 11, 2026, and specified notice and ballot requirements (publication in the Triple County Times and exhibit forms for sample ballots and notices), deadlines for printing and delivery of ballots, and statutory canvass and Department of Public Instruction notice procedures. The district clerk was directed to provide notice to municipalities, prepare ballots in accordance with state statutes, and to have the district board of canvasers meet no later than the Tuesday following the election to certify results.
Next steps: administration will finalize the exhibit language and publication schedule and the district clerk will provide required notices and ballots to municipal clerks and the Department of Public Instruction as specified in the resolution.
