The Barr-Reeve Community Schools Board accepted three personnel separations and approved employment recommendations for summer transportation help and an internal staffing reassignment.
The superintendent announced the retirements and resignations: J.R. Perkins with 30 years of service, Mr. Steve Bulock with 29 years (14 at Barr-Reeve) and a CTE construction role, and Noah Mace resigning to take a band position at a school with a marching band. The superintendent thanked all three for their service and recommended the board accept the resignations; the board approved the recommendation by voice vote.
On staffing, the board approved hiring five summer transportation helpers — Ashley Salman, Teresa Luger (also listed as transitioning roles), Abby Binge, Ava Graber and Katrina Whitmer — whose duties include cleaning district buses during summer work periods. The board also approved reassigning Teresa Luger from her PAR position to a transportation secretary role with adjusted hours to allow her to keep her bus route; the position will be prorated for the remainder of the current school year and set as a 195-day position next year, with summer duties included in that count going forward.
The superintendent said district leaders had coordinated the reassignment with transportation leadership to avoid coverage gaps. "She'll do her summer help and then next year it'll start off as 195 days," the Superintendent/Administrator said. The board moved and approved the employment recommendations by voice vote.
What happens next: personnel actions will be recorded in the minutes and the district will proceed with onboarding summer hires and implementing the reassignment.
