The Kokomo City Planning Commission approved a development-plan request March 10 for an addition to the Indiana Heartland Federal Credit Union at 402 South Berkeley Road.
Tori Trip of Trip Engineering Consulting, representing the credit union, said the work will add a two-story addition just under 2,500 square feet to the southern side of the existing building, relocate the ATM drive-up lane and leave the existing parking and perimeter drive largely unchanged. "They are wanting to add on to their existing building ... it'll be a two-story addition, just under 2,500 square feet," Trip said.
A nearby resident asked why survey stakes appeared near her property; staff and the applicant explained the stakes mark property corners and iron rods found in the ground so the surveyor can locate property lines and avoid encroachment. After that exchange, the commission approved the development plan by voice vote.
The approval was recorded as a standard voice vote; the development plan will move forward under the conditions shown in the final plans and the technical meeting items Trip said were addressed.
