At an April workshop taxpayer hearing, Wanita Glover, identified herself as representing Imperial (presented in the agenda as Imperial Solar LLC), said the company did not receive a property tax bill for its Tomball address and asked the board to waive the penalty and interest the district had applied.
“...we never even received the bill,” Glover told trustees, saying the company paid immediately after learning of the delinquency and that the mailing likely went to the wrong suite when the building occupancy changed. Board members asked how long the business had been in the building (Glover said 2023), whether any property taxes had been paid previously (she said 2024 was paid), and whether the applicant could provide proof that a payment was made in 2024; staff requested the documentation be emailed to the tax office by noon the next day.
During the workshop staff read the figures the board will consider on the regular agenda: the district staff recited a penalty figure and interest figure that together were described as a waiver request of roughly $5,720 (figures were read from the agenda packet; transcript text had inconsistent formatting of the numbers). Trustees noted statutory limits on waivers and asked staff to supply the relevant Texas tax‑code language (Chapter 33) for review before the vote.
The board did not decide the waiver at the workshop; staff told the applicant she would receive written notice within 10 working days after the regular meeting and that the board will vote on the request at the April 14 meeting.
