Florence council authorizes posting notice to increase water/wastewater rates and to post intent to increase property tax
Summary

Town staff told the council on March 3 that the town’s 2022 10-year water and wastewater rate plan requires an annual step to implement the plan. Mr. Dutting asked council for permission to post the required notice of intent and to schedule a public hearing on May 5 for the annual rate increase; council approved the posting and hearing schedule.
Mr. Dutting also requested authorization to post the town’s annual notice of intent to increase property tax rates on the town website. He emphasized this action is a procedural posting under Arizona law (the county’s levy worksheet is part of the process) and is not itself a vote to raise taxes. Council authorized the posting; final adoption is scheduled for a June 2 meeting.
Why it matters: Both items are procedural but start off legally required public-notice processes that may lead to future increases. The water/wastewater step follows a previously adopted 10-year rate plan; the property tax posting preserves the council’s ability to consider adjustments at a later date.
