Slinger School Board OKs $707,150 turf replacement and $104,000 track resurfacing

Kristi Brooks, presenting the administration's recommendation, asked the Board to approve replacement of the Slinger High School football turf using option #2 with a not-to-exceed cost of $707,150.20. The proposal included a 10 percent contingency, a 10-year warranty and input from the district’s coaches. The Board adopted the recommendation in a motion by Ken Strupp, seconded by Jody Strupp; the motion carried. The Board also voted to increase the annual turf-account set-aside from $20,000 to $25,000 to fund future maintenance and replacement costs.
Brooks then presented an administrative recommendation to resurface the Slinger High School track. The Board approved the track resurfacing project—with a 10 percent contingency, a three-year warranty and the decision to keep the track color black—for a final contract amount of $104,000. That motion was made by Jody Strupp and seconded by Gary Feltz; the motion carried.
Board members discussed contingencies and warranties during both items; no formal amendments to the recommended contracts were recorded in the minutes. The approvals authorizing contractors and budgets were recorded as administrative motions and carry the standard procedural outcome of "motion carried."
