The Adams‑Friendship Area School District board voted to purchase relocatable classrooms and relocate its sixth grade, approving a motion to buy the units for $87,500 and to contract specialized services to move them to district property.

District staff and finance committee members told the board the purchase price covers the units themselves but not full site work. Preliminary estimates presented to the board put plumbing ties to existing sewer lines at roughly $50,000 plus about $10,000 in materials, and electrical work at about $18,000–$20,000 with an additional $7,000–$10,000 to tie into the building — leaving the district’s estimate for plumbing and electrical “roughly over $100,000.” Board members and staff discussed locating the units on the staff parking area to avoid deep footings and to reduce site prep costs.

Board members debated supervision and accessibility, with a consensus that adding bathroom facilities to the relocatables would be worth the expense rather than having sixth graders walk into the high‑school facility for restroom breaks. Staff said some costs could be covered from the sale of a property and from the district’s general fund, and that portions of the site work might be split across two fiscal years to ease the budget impact.

The motion passed on a roll‑call vote, 8–1 (Mandy opposed). Board members asked for tours and family‑information sessions once site work is underway so families can see how the relocatables will be used and supervised.
