A Temple City resident raised concerns at the Aug. 6 council meeting after a cellular antenna and small support building near Temple City High School were removed during nearby construction, reducing local service, a speaker said.
"We went from five bars to two bars on my cell phone," resident Dan told the council and said the School District and the Public Utilities Commission provided no notification to neighbors. He asked whether a temporary tower could have been deployed during reconstruction, a measure he said some companies use during upgrades.
Council members and City Manager Brian Cook said the item was not agendized, limiting what the council could discuss in the meeting, but Cook said staff had heard the concern and would seek more information and follow up with the resident. "We'll see what we can find out and I'll ask our city manager to contact you and see what information we can get," the mayor said.
The complaint remains an unresolved public comment; council indicated staff would investigate but no formal action or vote occurred at the meeting.
