She said applications would include a short set of redacted demographic questions and proposed a short presentation and Q&A period for candidates in early April, with a potential appointment at the April 20 council meeting.
Council members debated whether to restore an elected-official information session and how long the application window should be. Leadership agreed to draft five interview questions and to publicly announce an informational session; council President Martz moved to approve the process and timeline "as amended," which the council approved by unanimous voice vote.
The council also directed staff to emphasize to applicants that outreach to council members and references are welcome and to consider limited extensions only as the clerk's office can verify residency and election status.
