Addison Bean, a senior at Fossil Ridge High School, delivered remarks about women’s contributions and personal aspirations. Bean told the board: “When we reflect on women’s history, we honor the women who made our present possible.” Board members responded with applause and the board voted to adopt the resolution; the motion was recorded as passing unanimously in the meeting transcript.
The board took a photo with the student and district leaders after the vote. The resolution was the first formal action listed on the agenda and was presented alongside teacher Leslie Schmeiser’s introduction of the student speaker.
