Adam, the city manager, told the council the city’s Halloween event the prior Friday drew an informal estimate of roughly 3,000 to 4,000 people and that staff handed out ‘‘over 50,000 pieces of candy.’’ He thanked parks and recreation staff and council members who attended and noted the event included a live game viewing for Dodger fans.
Adam announced a Veterans Day ceremony set for Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m., with remarks from elected representatives, keynote speaker Mike Ksky and free food provided by Athen Services following the ceremony. He also said Temple City is participating in regional planning conversations about the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the LA 2028 Olympic Games, likely focusing on fan zones or live-viewing activities as planning continues.
Council members praised the parks and recreation department for the turnout and community engagement. Adam closed his update with a light-hearted exchange about distribution of commemorative challenge coins from a prior event.
No formal council action was taken on these items at the Nov. 5 meeting.
