Dr. Hayes read a statement noting the creation of the 988 suicide and crisis lifeline and the district's HelpMe confidential reporting system, and described the ongoing rollout of teen mental‑health first aid in high schools. "Suicide is preventable and by working together as educators, families, and community partners, we can break down the stigma, open doors to help, and ensure that every student knows they are never alone," Dr. Hayes said.
Allison Spilman read a formal board resolution that cited state suicide statistics and urged community participation in awareness efforts. The board thanked school counselors, psychologists and community partners such as Region 10 and Spark for their work.
