Council approves downtown Easter egg hunt at winery for April 4

The Columbiana City Council on March 3 approved a downtown Easter egg hunt proposed by Ashley McKim that would take place April 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the downtown winery, with eggs hidden in the Columbia corridor and the pocket park.
McKim told the council the event would be a single combined gathering for adults and children; organizers plan to hide 20–25 eggs in each section, place a prize slip in each egg and have participants redeem prizes inside the winery. McKim said volunteers (including Mike and herself) would help manage crowds and keep the site tidy by collecting eggs and re‑hiding them during the event.
Council members asked whether the date conflicted with other events and were told this is a first-time effort for the group. The Park Recreation and Cemetery Board had already approved the event, and the council voted to accept the proposal as presented.
The council also discussed contacting GCC (a volunteer group) to solicit help for the Firestone Park cleanup and other volunteer support for downtown events.
The event was approved by motion and roll-call vote; organizers were told to coordinate with city departments on permits and staging.
