Walton County roundup: multiple rezones, consent agenda and credit‑card limit increase approved

At its meeting the Walton County Board of Commissioners approved a number of routine and planning items in addition to the higher‑profile agenda entries.

Resolutions and consent items: The board approved the administrative consent agenda, which included the February minutes, purchases over $25,000, multiple surplus declarations and a final change order for the jail project that the county manager said kept the project under budget. Commissioners also approved a resolution to increase the county’s Synovus umbrella credit limit (the chair characterized the change as increasing the limit "from 45 to 100" with assurances staff will monitor card use closely).

Other planning votes: The board approved Z25‑0392 (rezone 3 acres A1→R1 for Daniel Haywood to rebuild a residence), and Z25‑0397 (rezone 7.83 acres R1→A1 to allow personal outside animals for the Carters). Those items were presented with applicant testimony and either no opposition or no significant objections from neighbors.

Administration and announcements: County Manager Don Europe provided departmental updates and timelines for a new water treatment plant (phase one to produce about 16 million gallons per day; lake capacity noted as up to 60 million gallons). One commissioner announced he will finish the current term but will not seek re‑election in the fall. The meeting adjourned without an executive session.
