Argyle ISD honors about 125 students, coaches and staff at winter recognition night

Argyle ISD held a special winter recognition event March 4, 2026, honoring about 125 students, teachers and coaches across academics, athletics and the fine arts. Superintendent Dr. Courtney Carpenter and Board President Sam Sllayton led the program, which included medals, photos and presentations by campus principals and coaches.
Dr. Carpenter said the evening showcased the district’s breadth of achievement and thanked families, staff and volunteers for supporting students’ work. “We’re thrilled to celebrate each and every one of you that represent Argyle ISD this evening,” she said, noting the district will hold an additional recognition in May.
The night highlighted several district- and state-level accomplishments. Argyle High School named three National Merit finalists—Leah Cha, Riley Pazana and Sri Abinav Thirdie—and the high school was included on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll, Superintendent Dr. Carpenter said. Band director Jason Bird announced four students—Eddie Acres, Hayden Blackman, Camden Cooper and Bradley Gover—advanced to the all‑state band in San Antonio.
Coaches and principals recognized dozens of campus and district winners across UIL events, art competitions and athletics. Amber Jonas and Argyle South Elementary principals announced Cotton Bowl art winners whose work will be displayed at AT&T Stadium; freshman Sanvi Nadavari was selected for the Texas Youth Art Month State Capitol Exhibit. Athletic recognitions included regional and state qualifiers in swimming and wrestling; wrestling coach Bobby Morse noted multiple regional placers and state podium finishes for both boys and girls teams.
Organizers also highlighted the scale of elementary participation in UIL: UIL coordinator Shelley Moses reported 443 elementary students competed in district elementary UIL events, with Argyle South Elementary winning the overall elementary meet. Principals and campus coordinators read lists of medalists by event and grade while students came forward to receive medals.
Board President Sam Sllayton opened and closed the program and led the pledges and an opening prayer. He closed the evening by wishing families a safe spring break and concluding the meeting at approximately 7:12 p.m. The district livestreamed and will archive the event on the Argyle ISD YouTube channel; photos taken onstage will be shared by the district.
The event was ceremonial rather than legislative: no motions or formal board votes were recorded during the recognition program. Follow-up: the district said additional recognitions will occur in May for other awardees.
