Puallup — At its Feb. 24 meeting, the Puallup City Council approved two second-reading ordinances updating municipal code sections and the zoning map, and confirmed appointments to several citizen advisory boards.
Senior planner Chris Beal was available to answer questions on the municipal code amendments and zoning map changes; the council held second readings on both items and took roll-call votes. The ordinances were adopted by unanimous vote of members present (Council members King, Gilliam, Cassima, Smolco, Deputy Mayor Johnson and Mayor Whitting); Council member Adler was excused.
City Clerk Dan Vessels then read recommendations from a council interview subcommittee and presented nominees for multiple boards and commissions, including the Civil Service Commission (Jim Kelly and AJ Guard); the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (Renee Mlan, Tony Castro, Jason Jesus, Dean Burke, Kimfield, Marshall Dinger); the Parks & Recreation Board (Bogdan Tertu); the Planning Commission (Millard Barney, Mark Crosby, Diane Washurn); and the Senior Advisory Board (Robert Aine, Steve Shipman, Joel Ricks, Don Massie). Council moved, seconded and approved the appointments by voice vote.
Council treated the ordinance adoptions and appointments as routine items and did not request additional hearings; staff will incorporate the ordinance changes into the municipal code and notify appointees of their appointments.
