The board voted to refer the memorandum and funding questions to the planning committee for detailed vetting. Separately, the board approved a memorandum of understanding that clarifies routine maintenance responsibilities (mowing, snow removal) between the district and the park district; that maintenance MOU passed on a roll-call vote.
Administrators said the reszone is intended to align ownership with operations and that some sections will belong to the park district while others remain district property. They emphasized the site’s heavy use for bus pickup, after-school activities and community events and said any long-term repair must meet city standards rather than temporary patch repairs.
