Board chair proposes dissolving small committees in favor of full‑board work sessions; meeting recessed to closed session
Summary
The chair told governors that standing committees (personnel, finance and operations, policy) will be replaced by full‑board work sessions to increase transparency and participation; later the board voted to close the public meeting and reconvene in closed session under Missouri Revised Statutes §610.021 (sections 1,2,3,13).

The board chair outlined a proposed change to board governance practice: instead of separate standing committees (personnel; finance and operations; policy), the chair proposed dissolving some committees and conducting the detailed committee work as full‑board work sessions so every governor can participate in financial and personnel briefings before the regular board meeting. The chair said the goal is greater transparency and to reduce redundant committee workload on a seven‑member board.
Several governors discussed the historical reasons committees had been created and said they appreciated the chair’s intent to have more governors see financial detail and to ask questions before votes. The chair said a nominating committee will still be appointed to prepare officer elections at the next meeting.
Toward the end of the public session a motion was made, seconded and carried to close the public meeting and reconvene in closed session under Missouri Revised Statutes §610.021 (sections 1, 2, 3 and 13); the chair called for a 10‑minute break before the closed session.
