District finance staff reported November receipts of about $1.8 million against expenditures near $2.3 million, producing a month'end deficit of roughly $435,000 and a fiscal year'to'date deficit of approximately $3.368 million. Presenters said county tax receipts have started to arrive (about $1.6 million on the first payment), and they proposed using a new reporting view generated by Balance HQ working with the district's current accounting software to make budget materials easier for board members to read.

Other business: the board selected March 17 at 7 p.m. as the alternate date for the March regular-business meeting (the district will be on spring break on the originally scheduled date). Staff also reminded the public that winter break runs Dec. 22 through Jan. 2, staff returns Jan. 5 and students resume Jan. 7; board filing is open for three seats; and the building'trades house will be open for public tours Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
What's next: staff will continue to monitor county tax receipts and refine budget reporting; the district will proceed with contract procurement up to the approved authority threshold and bring bids above the $1.8 million cap back to the board for approval.
