The Transportation and Mobility Committee on Thursday authorized the director of Port Control to exercise the first renewal option of a multi-year contract with Air Force One Inc. to maintain, repair and test heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems at city Port Control facilities.
Port Control staff described the agreement (initially negotiated as a two-year contract with two one-year renewal options) and said the work covers Burke and Hopkins facilities, where many HVAC components are aging and likely to require increased maintenance or replacement. "This contract is to provide the labor, materials and such to ensure that both facilities remain in operation and providing the service that is expected by the public," a Port Control presenter said.
Committee members asked whether the contractor's name implied any federal affiliation. Staff clarified, to laughter, that Air Force One Inc. is a private company that provides facilities maintenance and has no federal affiliation.
The chair recorded no further questions and the ordinance (No. 94206), authorizing the director to exercise the renewal option for contract MA1505 RC202402, was circulated for signature during the meeting.
