Colleen Fire Department first in Texas to deploy new Zol Medical patient monitor

Colleen City Council on March 3 recognized the Colleen Fire Department as one of the first agencies in Texas — and among a small number worldwide — to field-test a newly released patient monitor from Zol Medical.
Christy Hollowell, speaking for Zol Medical, said the device represents a decade of product development and that Colleen was selected to provide real-world feedback. "Colleen is one of the first agencies in the world to take possession of it and have it out in the field," Hollowell said, adding the company expects the monitor to improve patient care and outcomes in Colleen.
Deputy Chief of Emergency Medical Services James Shambers and Chief Kavinsky accepted a plaque recognizing the department's role as a pioneer in patient care technology. Chief Kavinsky said deploying the device required bravery and training from firefighters and EMS personnel and emphasized the department's readiness to integrate related capabilities such as whole-blood use and onsite antibiotics.
Zol Medical representatives attending included Kelly Tran, Pier Stagno, Chuck Bowman and Mike Borcowski; the company and city leaders said the partnership will allow Colleen's EMS staff to provide advanced diagnostics to the community's roughly 23,000 annual 911 patients.
The council did not take formal action on the presentation. The recognition will remain an honorific acknowledgment as Zol collects field feedback; city and company officials said they expect to follow up with outcome data as it becomes available.
