Tequesta council declines to pursue hedge‑height ordinance after single complaint

At the start of the Sept. 29 workshop the council revisited a resident's July request to limit hedge heights after a neighbor dispute. Staff (Jeremy) said this was the only complaint of its kind in his six years and that comparables and legal guidance had been provided for discussion.
Council members emphasized neighborly solutions and use of existing code enforcement to address encroachment, rather than a new village ordinance. "I'm not in favor of adding more restriction or ordinance," a council member (Jason) said, noting that hedges provide privacy and that one isolated complaint did not justify a regulatory change. Other council members agreed the village should monitor complaints and revisit the issue only if additional incidents occur.
No action was taken; staff will continue to monitor complaints and handle encroachment through standard code‑enforcement channels.
