Council approves FY2026 sidewalk and roadway improvement plans totaling about $784,000

Public works staff asked for approval of sidewalk upgrades in East Wind Circle, along South Riverside Drive to the Dover ditch and an initial replacement of 4‑ft sidewalks on Willow Road with 5‑ft compliant sidewalks; total sidewalk cost presented was $169,943 and funded from the capital budget. The council approved the item unanimously.
The roadway improvement plan, presented as a recommendation to address severely deteriorated concrete sections in East Wind Circle and surface repairs in Questa Pines and other neighborhoods, recommended replacing concrete with asphalt where appropriate to mitigate flooding and rideability problems. The total cost presented was $614,319, also to be funded from capital funds and using the village’s piggyback contract with Wind and Suns Construction. Council approved the plan and asked staff to return with any additional recommendations after evaluating storm-water issues in coordination with the utilities director.
Staff said both projects aimed to start early in the new year to avoid spring rains and to finish under the existing contract window.
