The officer reportedly discovered a handgun with an extended 30‑round magazine and, during an inventory of the vehicle, a duffel bag containing approximately 18 kilos (about 20,000 grams) of illegal narcotics. The proclamation estimated the narcotics' street value at roughly $342,000 and noted that members of the DEA task force responded and the driver was charged with armed trafficking.
Officer Jose Nunes spoke briefly and said he was "very honored for this recognition." The council paused for a photograph and applause following the presentation.
