Southwest Ranches council approves $2,486 drainage overrun, combined maintenance renewals, surplus equipment changes and alternate magistrate appointment

The Town of Southwest Ranches council approved a series of routine and project-specific items, including a small contract overrun on a drainage project, combined renewals of maintenance contracts, and changes to surplus equipment declarations.

Staff reported that a drainage project at 49 Southwest 49th and 202nd Avenue, originally awarded at $39,000, encountered unforeseen site conditions (noted tree roots while excavating) that raised actual costs to about $41,000. Staff requested authority to pay the $2,486 difference. Council voted unanimously to cover the overrun with funds from the forfeiture and lien fund; no taxpayer impact was reported by staff.
